This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is spilt into two pathways:
- Social Care
- Learning and Development Support Services
Apprenticeship Level 3
- 12-18 months duration (approx)
- Successful completion will contribute towards university entrance requirements
- Academic equivalent to Advanced A Levels
Component Parts
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
- Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities & Rights in Children & Young Peoples Settings (QCF)
- Level 2 Functional Skills – English, Maths & ICT
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Funding Criteria
- Work an average of 30 hours per week
- Not in full time education
